Activation of seniors in retirement homes

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je tematicky orientovaná na problematiku aktivizace seniorů v domovech pro seniory. Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je zjistit, jaké přínosy mají aktivizační programy a terapeutické aktivity pro seniory, kteří se jich účastní. Diplomová práce je rozdělena na dvě části, na část teoretickou a empirickou. Část teoretická se pomocí literárních zdrojů věnuje otázkám stáří a stárnutí, vymezení a popisu seniorské populace a charakteristice konkrétních aktivizačních činností. Empirická část práce je zaměřena na vlastní kvalitativní výzkum za použití techniky strukturovaného rozhovoru. Rozhovor bude prováděn se seniory a dále pak se sociálními a aktivizačními pracovníky daných zařízeních. Výzkum bude realizován ve vybraných domovech pro seniory v Ústeckém kraji. Výsledky výzkumu přispějí k rozšíření dané problematiky o aktuální zjištění, dále budou strukturována doporučení a návrhy pro možné změny v oblasti aktivizace seniorů.

Abstract:

The subject of thesis is the activation of the elderly in retirement homes. The main objective of the thesis is to explore the benefits of activation programmes and therapeutic activities for elderly citizens who participate in such programmes and activities. The thesis is divided into two sections - theoretical and empirical. The theoretial section is based on printed resources and focus on old age and ageing. It also defines and describes the elderly population and characterizes specific activation activities. The empirical section is based on qualitative research which uses the structured interview technique. The interview will be conducted with the elderly clients and also with the social and activation workers in the respective residential facilities. The research will be carried out in selected retirement homes in the Ústí Region. The research findings shall provide up-to-date insights into the subject. The thesis will also include structured recommendations and suggestions for possible improvements in the field of elderly activation.
