Sense of life and value orientation issues in university students

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zkoumá problematiku životního smyslu a hodnotové orientace u 60 vysokoškolských studentů ve věku 19-25 let. Primárním cílem této práce je teoretické studium výše uvedených témat a empirické zkoumání těchto fenoménů u souboru respondentů ve věkové kategorii pozdní adolescence a rané dospělosti. Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit, zda mezi zkoumanými proměnnými existují statisticky významné vztahy, zda se zjištěné vztahy mezi proměnnými liší u souboru mužů a žen a zda se muži a ženy statisticky významně liší v úrovni zkoumaných proměnných. Dotazníkové šetření proběhlo na různých fakultách Ostravské univerzity a Vysoké školy Báňské - Technické univerzity Ostrava. Celkově bylo využito tří dotazníků, kdy první z nich, jenž jsem sama definovala, zjišťoval sociodemografické údaje a míru osobní spokojenosti v oblastech respondentova života, výběru studijního oboru, partnerství a rodiny. Pro měření smyslu života, jeho prožívané smysluplnosti či naopak existenciální frustrace byl použit Logo-test od E. Lukasové. Pro zjištění hodnotové orientace byl využit Schwartzův 40 položkový Dotazník hodnotových portrétů (PVQ 40, Portrait Values Questionnaire). Výsledky odhalily poměrně velké množství statisticky významných vztahů a odlišností mezi zkoumanými proměnnými jak celého souboru, tak jednotlivě u mužů a žen. Tyto rozdíly se především ukázaly v hodnotových typech a orientacích.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis examines problematice of life sense and value orientation of 60 college students aged from 19 to 25. Primary goal of this thesis is theoretical study of topic written above and empirical exploration of these phenomena in a group of respondents the late adolescence and early adulthood categories. The objective of this research was to find out if there are any statistically important relations between examined variables. To find out If detected relations among variables are different for the men and women. Moreover, if results of females are statistically significantly different from males results. Questionnaire survey went at faculties of University of Ostrava and VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava. There were three types of questionnaires overall. First of them, which was created by me, determined socio-demographic data and rate of personal satisfaction in areas of respondent's life, choice of field of study, partnership and family. To measure his/hers meaning of live, if he/her is experiencing meaningfulness or vice versa existential frustration, in the research is used Logo-test created by E. Lukas. Lastly, to determine value orientation in the research is used Schwartz's 40-item questionnaire of value portraits. The results of the group of respondents, both men and women, revealed relatively extensive amount of statistically important relations and differences among the examined variables. These distinctions were shown particularly in value types and orientations.
