Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá častými výslovnostními chybami českých mluvčích a zaměřuje se na ty, kterých se dopouštějí čeští politici. Jejím cílem je prokázat hypotézu, že prezidenti Václav Havel, Václav Klaus a Miloš Zeman dělají ty samé chyby v anglických projevech jako jejich spoluobčané. Teoretická část je založena převážně na dílech Petera Roache a A. C. Gimsona. Problematické aspekty anglické výslovnosti ve všech oblastech (samohlásky, souhlásky, souvislá řeč) se zde definují a srovnávají s protějšky (pokud takové existují) v českém zvukovém systému. Jejich charakterizace je základem pro praktický oddíl práce. Ten se skládá z analýzy proslovů vybraných politiků. Jejich slovní přednesy jsou foneticky přepsány a chyby jsou vyznačeny. Analýza potvrzuje hypotézu a ukazuje, že prezidenti se dopouštějí všech výslovnostních chyb, které jsou typické pro ostatní české mluvčí. Stejné jsou k nalezení v mnoha současných publikacích.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with common pronunciation errors of Czech speakers, and focuses on those made by Czech politicians. Its goal is to prove the hypothesis, that the presidents Václav Havel, Václav Klaus and Miloš Zeman make the same mistakes in their public English speeches as their fellow country people. The theoretical section is established mostly on the works of Peter Roach and A. C. Gimson. The problematic aspects of English pronunciation in all areas (vowels, consonants and connected speech) are defined here and compared to the counterparts (if such exist) in the Czech sound system. Their characterization is the basis of the practical section of the thesis. That consists of analysis of the speeches of the chosen politicians. Their verbal presentations are phonetically transcribed and the mistakes noted. The analysis proves the hypothesis and shows that the presidents make all the pronunciation errors which are typical for other Czech speakers. The same mistakes listed here are to be found in number of contemporary publications.
