Sweet Sweat: Documentary Film about Contemporary Czech Brewing Industry

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá aspekty tvorby dokumentárního filmu – Sladká dřina – určeného pro televizní médium. Skládá se z tvůrčí a textové části. Šestadvacetiminutový film je autentickým náhledem do tří českých pivovarů. Mozaika výpovědí tří sládků vytváří obraz současné tuzemské pivní produkce. Každý z respondentů prezentuje odlišný přístup k vaření piva, popisuje svůj vztah k pivu a pivovaru a zamýšlí se nad současnou pivní kulturou v České republice. Textová část se komplexně věnuje problematice vzniku tvůrčí části. Teoretickou diskuzí definuje pojetí dokumentárního filmu a představuje jeho možné kategorizace. Zabývá se také produkcí České televize k tématu pivovarnictví a současným systémem přijímání námětů pro dokumentární filmy. Navazující kapitoly podrobně popisují vznik dokumentárního filmu a podrobuje ho kritické reflexi.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with aspects of making a documentary film – Sweet Sweat – intended for television media. It consists of the creative and text part. Twenty-six minutes long film is an authentic insight into the three Czech breweries. Mosaic of interviews with three brewers produces current image of domestic beer production. Each of the respondents, represents a different approach to brewing, describes his relationship with beer and brewery, and speculates about the current beer culture in the Czech Republic. The text part comprehensively deals with the problem of the creative part. A theoretical discussion defines the concept of the documentary film and its possible categorization. It also deals with the programme production of Czech Television on topic of brewing and the current system of accepting proposals for documentaries. Subsequent chapters describe the creation of a documentary and provide critical reflection of the film.
