The World of Indians in the Peruvian Novel of the Sixties-Seventies of the 20th Century

Abstract:

This thesis is focusing on the life of red indians, their culture, habits and history described in the novels of authors Ciro Alegría, José María Arguedas. First we concentrated on the word ?indian? and its definition. We´ve tried to summarize the information about the aborigines of Latin America, while we focused on the people living in Peru. Next we looked into literature containing indians as the main characters. In the last chapter of the teoretical part we find curriculums of authors mentioned above and the content of their work. Practical part is devided in 4 main parts. First of them is dedicated to indian language, which appears in the novels. Next one is concentrating on the relationship between the people and nature. Third one lookes into the differences between the indian and white race, their opinion of the world as well as the interaction between each other. At the end we realise, that the book Los ríos profundos gives us the most information about indians on this subject.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na život indiánů, jejich kulturu, zvyky a historii zobrazenou v románech peruánských autorů Cira Alegríi a Josého Maríi Arguedese. Nejprve jsme se věnovali samotnému pojmu ?indián? a jeho definici. Snažili jsme se shrnout informace o původních obyvatelích Latinské Ameriky, přičemž jsme hlavní důraz kladli na obyvatele žijící v Peru. Dále jsme se zabývali literaturou, ve které se indiáni vyskytují, jakožto jedni z hlavních postav. Ve zbylém dílu teoretické části najdeme životopisy výše zmiňovaných autorů a obsahy jejich děl. Praktická část je rozdělena do čtyř hlavních částí. První z nich je věnována jazyku indiánů, který se objevuje v jednotlivých románech. Další se zaměřuje na vztah hlavních protagonistů k přírodě. Třetí subkapitola se zaobírá jejich tradicí a mytologií. Poslední kapitola pohlíží na rozdíly mezi původním obyvatelstvem a tím, co má evropské kořeny, věnuje se jak jejich vzájemným vztahům, tak různorodým názorům na vznik světa a jeho vývoj. V závěru zjišťujeme, že nejvíce informací o indiánech nám poskytuje kniha Los ríos profundos.
