The ways of improving the efficiency of the import substitution in the agrifood sector

Abstract:

The given Diploma Thesis is written on the topic "The ways of improving the efficiency of the import substitution in the agrifood sector". The paper analyzes the general economic problem of import substitution and examines many aspects of the problem at various levels. Diploma Thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter includes theoretical aspects of import substitution, as well as the research methods and methodology. This chapter also discusses the goals and ways to improve the efficiency of import substitution. The second chapter is based on a macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis of import substitution in the agrifood sector. JSC Sad-Gigant was selected in order to perform the analysis at the microeconomic level. In the final part of the chapter, the problem is examined using the example of the apple sector. The results of the analysis are the basis for constructing an econometric model showing the interdependence between the studied indicators. The third part also analyzes countries-importers, which have the greatest impact on the apple production in Russia, and also provides the forecast for the next 5 years. The situation described in the work is considered as a key factor leading to the stability and prosperity of the state. Improving the efficiency of import substitution allows a state to achieve many significant goals, such as stable economic growth, lower unemployment, reduced dependence on imports, etc.
