Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá zapojení videa do školní výuky. Zájmem autora bylo probádat vyučovací postupy, které jsou s použitím videa spojené. Podstatným prvkem této práce je její praktická část, jejímž cílem bylo poskytnout učiteli vodítko k sestavení vlastního kurzu odvíjejícího se od filmového projektu. Cílem první část práce bylo prozkoumat současné i minulé metody v rámci použití videa. Základem výzkumu byly výsledky práce Kierana Donaghyho, jehož studie poskytují nevyčerpatelný zdroj poznatků, které mohou být okamžitě uplatněny pro účely jazykového vzdělávání. Jeho podněty posloužily jako podstatný informační základ praktické části této práce. Praktická část této práce vykresluje použití filmu při sestavování jazykového kurzu. Základem výzkumu bylo použití metod Kathleen Gravesové a její knihy Designing language courses: a guide for teachers. Poslední částí je podrobný sylabus jazykového kurzu, který shrnuje závěry teoretické i praktické části této diplomové práce.

Abstract:

The thesis investigates the usage of movies in today’s classrooms. It shortly summarizes the history of using movies for educational purposes with a focus on language education. It draws upon the modern teaching approaches and explores how and why a video material is used. Moreover, it provides practical outcomes of the research and contributes to the ongoing debate about how a video material should be used. The first part of the thesis aims to explore the findings of several prominent authors who explore the area of teaching language via moving images. The main contributor to the thesis was Kieran Donaghy whose researches provide an endless well of findings that can be directly applied to any language class. The practical part of the thesis delves deep into the course designing process. Most of the research is based upon the findings of Kathleen Graves and her book Designing Language Courses: a guide for teachers. The last part of the thesis provides an exemplary course syllabus that draws upon the findings of the thesis and puts into use both the theoretical and practical part of the thesis.
