The security dilemma between the NATO and Russia after 2014 from NATO's perspective

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje bezpečnostnímu stavu mezi Severoatlantickou aliancí a Ruskem po roce 2014 z pohledu aliance NATO. V roce 2014 po anexi Krymského poloostrova Ruskem a podpory ukrajinských separatistů NATO přehodnotilo svůj dosavadní postoj vůči Rusku a Aliance začala považovat Rusko za zdroj hrozby. Výchozí otázka této práce je, jak se Aliance přizpůsobuje tomuto stanovisku. Tato práce sleduje nejen argumentaci Aliance, nýbrž i materiální okolnosti, které NATO realizuje pro hájení své bezpečnosti. Předměty k analýze jsou zejména oficiálně vydávaná vrcholná prohlášení NATO tzv. Deklarace summitů a dále pak nově přijaté iniciativy pro zvýšení bezpečnosti. Kontext je založen na existenci bezpečnostního dilematu a práce tak popisuje stav bezpečnostního dilematu z hlediska Aliance.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the security situation between the NATO and Russia after 2014 from the perspective of the NATO. In 2014, following Russian annexation of the Crimean Peninsula and its continuing support of Ukrainian separatists, the NATO reconsidered its current posture on Russia and the Alliance began to perceive Russia as a source of threat. The starting point for this work is how the Alliance adapts to this position. It explores not only the Alliance's arguments, but also the material circumstances that the NATO implements to defend its security. The subjects for the analysis are the officially issued supreme NATO statements – Summit Declarations as well as the newly adopted initiatives for increasing its security. The context is based on the existence of a security dilemma and the thesis hence describes the state of the security dilemma from the point of the view of the Alliance.
