Estimating the complexity of software projects in terms of effort, time and capacity

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tématem odhadování náročnosti softwarových projektů se zaměřením na úsilí, čas a lidské kapacity. Studie byla provedena ve spolupráci s malou firmou XY, která se potýkala v minulosti s problémy odhadování tohoto rázu. Tato práce si klade za cíl prozkoumat různé metody odhadování, navrhnout postup jejich výběru v závislosti na typu projektu a následně vzniklé závěry otestuje na příkladu tří reálných projektů. Dílčí cíle této práce jsou nastínit problematiku projektů a odhadování a dále popsat různé metodiky odhadování náročnosti daného projektu. Přínosem je ucelený a aktuální přehled při postupu odhadování projektů a s tím souvisejících vlivů.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of estimating the complexity of software projects with a focus on effort, time and human capacity. The study was conducted in collaboration with a small company XY, which has had problems estimating this in the past. This work aims to explore different methods of estimation, to propose a procedure for their selection depending on the type of project and then test the conclusions on the example of three real projects. The partial goals of this thesis are to outline the field of projects and estimation and to further describe various methodologies for estimating the complexity of a given project. The benefit is a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the process of estimating projects and related impacts.
