A model of an art/cultural institution as a support for mental health and a defence against information overload

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o možnosti alternativního zdroje podpory duševního zdraví. Cílem práce je navrhnout řešení, které by mohlo být zajištěno vznikem nové umělecko-kulturní instituce, a otestovat ho v praxi za pomoci zkušební instalace. Teoretická část je věnována problematice informačního přetížení a dostupným zdrojům úlevy. Dále se práce zabývá spojením kulturního sektoru s oblastí zdravotnictví v mezioborové instituci. Praktická část pak popisuje vytvoření zkušební instalace, na kterou navazuje kvalitativní výzkum. Závěr práce tvoří zhodnocení výše zmíněného projektu a výsledků výzkumu a popisuje, jakým směrem by se mohla tato mezisektorová spolupráce ubírat.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis discusses the possibility of an alternative source of mental health support. The aim of the thesis is to propose a solution that could be provided by the formation of a new arts and cultural institution, and to test it in practice with the help of a trial installation. The theoretical part deals with the issue of information overload and the available sources of relief. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the merging of the cultural field with the health sector in an interdisciplinary institution. The practical part then describes the creation of a test installation, which is followed by qualitative research. The thesis concludes with an evaluation of the aforementioned project and research findings, and describes the direction in which this cross-sector collaboration could head.
