Corporate culture and its impact on the management of hotel operations

Abstract:

This dissertation consists of 3 basic chapters. In the first, I will discuss the topic in theoretical terms, based on the knowledge acquired during my studies at the university. In the second part, I describe in more detail the corporate culture and its impact on the management of the hotel operations, management, guest ethnic composition etc. The third part contains short summary conclusions of my work. The subject is corporate culture and its impact on management of hotel operation and I want to determine how large impact it is. Corporate culture means the sum of ideas, attitudes and values in the company that reflect mind, sentience and behaviour of organization members. Also the style of management is important for the corporate culture. At the strong corporate culture is more pleasant atmosphere as for employees as for clients in the hotel. The aim of my dissertation is to provide a comprehensive and realistic view of corporate culture in the hotel. On the hotel chain CPI Hotels, with the assistance and information provided by Assistant Personnel Director, which I am using as a real-life example, I am analysing corporate culture in this chain. This hotel chain has a strong corporate culture. Thanks to the internal standards of the hotel, which includes the Code of Ethics showing to employees how to behave each other, how to behave to the customers and this in the end provide to satisfaction of all.

Abstract:

Táto diplomová práca sa skladá z 3 základných kapitol. V prvej sa snažím priblížiť danú problematiku výkladom teórie, ktorú som čerpala z poznatkov nadobudnutých štúdiom v škole. V druhej časti opisujem podrobnejšie podnikovú kultúru a jej dopad na riadenie hotelovej prevádzky na konkrétnom prípade, vedenie firmy, národnostné zloženie klientely a podobne. Tretia časť, teda návrhová obsahuje krátke a stručné závery mojej práce. Predmetom tejto diplomovej práce je podniková kultúra a jej dopady na riadenie hotelovej prevádzky. Pojem podniková kultúra znamená súhrn predstáv, prístupov, hodnôt vo firme, všeobecne zdieľaných a relatívne dlhodobo udržovaných, ktoré sa prejavujú v myslení, cítení a chovaní členov organizácie a vo výtvoroch materiálnej i nemateriálnej povahy. Na podnikovú kultúru má vplyv aj štýl riadenia zamestnancov. Pri silnej podnikovej kultúre je atmosféra v hoteli príjemnejšia aj pre hostí, čo ovplyvňuje ich spokojnosť, a to môže viesť k zvýšeniu obsadenosti. Cieľom tejto diplomovej práce je zistiť aký dopad má podniková kultúra na riadenie hotela. Na vybranej sieti hotelov CPI, za pomoci informácii poskytnutých asistentkou personálnej riaditeľky skúmam podnikovú kultúru v danom reťazci. Táto sieť hotelov má dobre vybudovanú silnú podnikovú kultúru. Vďaka interným smerniciam hotela, ktorých súčasťou je aj etický kódex sa zamestnanci správajú nielen voči sebe ukážkovo, ale odráža sa to aj na správaní k zákazníkovi samému a následne na spokojnosti všetkých zúčastnených strán.
