The role of financial analysis in assessing the company's position in the competitive automotive industry.

Abstract:

Hlavní výzkumná úloha je zaměřena na pozici dodavatele na českém trhu automobilového průmyslu, na pozici firmy v mezinárodním koncernu a benchmarking klíčových ukazatelů, které vypovídají o potenciálu konkurenceschopnosti zkoumané firmy. K naplnění cíle je využita důsledná situační analýza, zahrnující tři okruhy zkoumání, které korespondují s cílem práce. Vstupními daty jsou sekundární data, sebraná z webových stránek zkoumané firmy, zahrnující výroční zprávy firmy a data o aktuální situaci v odvětví, získaná z následujících zdrojů: SAP, CZ-NACE 29. Jednotlivé okruhy výzkumu a v nich použité nástroje poukázaly na tato fakta. Subjekt výzkumu působící na českém trhu je ojedinělý, se silnou pozicí na trhu automobilového průmyslu a má na tomto trhu téměř nulovou konkurenci. Zkoumaná firma je součástí nadnárodního koncernu, a proto jsou její výsledky finanční analýzy zkreslené vztahy s mateřskou společností a toky zdrojů mezi nimi. Pozice zkoumané firmy v koncernu je přesto silná, což je podloženo inovací a přesunem části výzkumu a vývoje do dceřiné společnosti. Benchmarking se výzkumem projevil jako neprůkazný právě z důvodů vztahů s mateřskou společností a toků zdrojů mezi nimi. Výstupem práce jsou doporučení. Firma by měla pro zlepšení konkurenceschopnosti soustředit pozornost na inovace, výzkum a vývoj. To zajistí i lepší postavení na trhu při vstupu nového konkurenta na trh. Výzkumem bylo dále zjištěno, že přes veřejně dostupná data nelze zjistit pravou podstatu zdraví firmy, která je součástí koncernu. Veřejně dostupná data pro externí zájmové skupiny nereflektují toky zdrojů a vlivy plynoucí ze vztahů v koncernu.

Abstract:

The main research task is focused on the position of the supplier on the Czech automotive market, the position of the company in the international concern and benchmarking of key indicators, which testify to the potential of competitiveness of the surveyed company. A consistent situational analysis, including three areas of research that corresponds to the purpose of the thesis, isused to achieve the goal. The input data are secondary data collected from the surveyed company website, including the company's annual reports and data on the current situation in the industry, obtained from the following sources: SAP, CZ-NACE 29. The research areas and tools used in the indicates have proven these facts. The research subject operating on the Czech market is unique, with a strong position in the automotive industry market and it has almost no competition in this market. The surveyed company is part of a multinational concern and financial analysis results are biased by relations with the parent company and resource flows between them. The position of the surveyed company is strong in terms of concern, which is based on innovation and the transfer of a part of research and development to a subsidiary. Benchmarking has proven inconclusive due to the relationship with the parent company and the flows of resources between them. The output of the thesis are recommendations. To improve competitiveness, the company should focus attention on innovation, research and development. This will also ensure a better market position when a new competitor enters the market. The research in the thesis also found that despite the publicly available data it is not possible to find out the true nature of the health of the company which is part of the concern. Publicly available data for external interest groups do not reflect resource flows and influences from relationships within the company.
