Gender Behind the Curtain - Perception of Gender Inequalities on the Czech Theatre Scene

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá otázkou genderových nerovností mezi umělci a umělkyněmi působícími na české divadelní scéně. Členěna je do dvou částí, z nichž první, teoretická se zaměřuje na vymezení pojmů souvisejících s genderem, specifikaci nerovností mezi muži a ženami a okolností jejich reprodukce. Pozornost je rovněž věnována současné situaci v české společnosti v oblasti rovnosti pohlaví a popisu uměleckého prostředí, v němž jsou nerovnosti zkoumány. Druhá, empirická část práce zahrnuje popis realizovaného kvantitativního dotazníkového šetření, jehož cílem bylo zjistit, zdali čeští divadelní umělci a umělkyně pociťují existenci genderových nerovností na svém pracovišti a jaké postoje k této problematice zaujímají. V téže části jsou prezentovány také výsledky statistické analýzy získaných dat a jejich následné vyhodnocení.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of gender inequalities between male and female artists working on the Czech theatre scene. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first one, theoretical, focuses on defining gender-related concepts, specification of inequalities between men and women and the circumstances of their reproduction. Attention is also paid to the current situation in Czech society in the field of gender equality, and to the artistic environment in which inequalities are explored. The second, empirical part of the thesis includes a description of a quantitative questionnaire survey conducted to find out whether Czech theatre artists perceive the existence of gender inequalities in their workplace, and what attitudes they take towards this issue. This section also includes the results of the statistical analysis of the collected data and their subsequent evaluation.
