The sense of this bachelor thesis is not only to describe the European Union as a new phenomenon, but also to describe its functioning. The main focus is on the analysis of the evolution of the EU, institutional system, basic European law terms, European justice, the joint currency EUR, development subvention, EU presidency and last but not least the Lisbon Treaty.
