The implementation of palliative care into social care facilities from the standpoint of a manager

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje tématu paliativní péče a jejího implementování do pobytové sociální služby. Cílem práce je zmapovat proces zavádění paliativní péče do pobytové sociální služby ve vybraných domovech pro seniory a z pohledu ředitelů identifikovat faktory, které tuto implementaci ovlivnily. Teoretická část je zaměřena na základní terminologii související s paliativní péčí a charakteristiku služeb v pobytových zařízeních pro seniory. V teoretické části jsou také popsány klíčové fáze a nároky pro implementaci paliativní péče do pobytových zařízeních pro seniory. Dále jsou nastíněna teoretická východiska týkající se procesu změny a konkrétně pak vybraných činností manažera, které mají na zavedení změny zásadní vliv. V praktické části pomocí kvantitativního výzkumu identifikuji faktory, které ovlivnily zavádění paliativní péče do vybraných organizací poskytujících pobytovou sociální službu.

Abstract:

The thesis revolves around palliative care and its implementation into residential social services. The goal of this thesis is to map the process of introducing palliative care into residential social services in certain retirement homes and, from the director’s point of view, identify factors which affected said implementation. The theoretical part focuses on basic terminology connected with palliative care and the characteristic of the service in residential facilities for the elderly. This part also describes the key phases and claims for implementing palliative care into residential social services for the elderly. Furthermore, it outlines the theoretical starting points regarding the change process and concretely the specific activities of managers that significantly impact the process. In the practical part, I will identify the factors that affected the introduction of palliative care into the selected organizations offering residential social services with the help of quantitative research.
