Analysis of the impact of european environmental policy (including the Green deal) on selected sectors of the Czech economy for the period 2001-2023

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je analýzu vlivu evropské koncepce v oblasti snižování emisí na výkonnost průmyslu za roky 2001 až 2023. Tento vliv se týká všech členských zemí Evropské unie, nicméně závěrečná práce se zaměřuje na průmysl České republiky. Vliv ekologických opatření je v práci měřen skrze ceny emisních povolenek a normy EURO 6 na index průmyslové produkce. Je provedena analýza na celkový průmysl a na dílčí průmyslová odvětví, kterými jsou zpracovatelský průmysl, těžba a dobývání a výroba a rozvod energie. V bakalářské práci je ověřována hypotéza: „Se zaváděním přísnějších ekologických opatření klesá výkonnost vybraných odvětví národního hospodářství v České republice“. Pro ověření hypotézy je použita vícenásobná regresní analýza metodou nejmenších čtverců. Hypotéza je v závěru práce falzifikována. Nejvíce ovlivněný je průmysl jako celek, méně ovlivněný pak zpracovatelský průmysl doprovázený těžbou a dobýváním. Nejméně ovlivněným průmyslem je výroba a rozvod energie. Ceny emisních povolenek jsou zkoumány, zda splňují svůj účel na snižování průmyslové produkce. Ceny emisních povolenek v podstatě plní roli Pigouovské daně, jelikož se zvýšením cen emisních povolenek klesá výkonnost u všech průmyslů.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of the impact of the European concept in the field of emissions reduction on the industrial performance for the years 2001 to 2023. This impact concerns all member state of European union, however, the final thesis focuses on the industry of the Czech republic. The influence of environmental measures is measured in the thesis through emission allowance prices and EURO 6 norm on the industrial production index. An analysis is conducted on the overall industry and on sub-industries, which are the manufacturing industry, mining and quarrying, and energy production and distribution. The bachelor's thesis tests the hypothesis: "With the introduction of stricter ecological measures, the performance of selected sectors of the national economy in the Czech Republic decreases." Multiple regression analysis using the least squares method is used to verify the hypothesis. The hypothesis is falsified in the conclusion of the thesis. The industry as a whole is the most affected, followed by the less affected manufacturing industry accompanied by mining and quarrying. The least affected industry is energy production and distribution. The prices of emission allowances are examined to determine whether they fulfill their purpose of reducing industry production. Prices of emission allowances essentially fulfill the role of a Pigouvian tax, i.e., with an increase of emission prices, the performance of all industries decreases.
