Volunteer activity in old people's home

Abstract:

Dobrovolnická činnost v domovech pro seniory je v posledních letech činností, která se stále rozšiřuje a nabývá na významu. Pozitivní vliv na výkon dobrovolnické činnosti obecně měl zákon č. 198/2002 Sb. o dobrovolnické službě, který oblast vymezuje, i když pouze tu dobrovolnickou činnost, která je vykonávána na základě akreditace. Na začátku teoretické části diplomové práce je uvedena stručná historie dobrovolnictví v České republice a vymezení základních pojmů, které s dobrovolnickou činností souvisejí. Následně se jedna kapitola věnuje jednotlivým krokům práce s dobrovolníky. Kapitola motivace k dobrovolnické činnost objasňuje po teoretické stránce základní pojmy jako jsou prosociální chování, altruismus, empatii a také samotný proces motivace. Jedná se o podstatné prvky pro výkon dobrovolnické činnosti. V neposlední řadě se práce zaměřuje na základní vymezení stáří a procesu stárnutí, kde jsou tyto pojmy definovány a také na konkrétní činnosti, které dobrovolníci mohou v rámci domovů pro seniory vykonávat. Empirická část je zaměřena na zmapování samotné dobrovolnické činnosti v domově pro seniory a také na motivaci a roli dobrovolníků v těchto zařízeních. Data pro tuto část práce byla získána na základě dotazníkového šetření, kterého se zúčastnili dobrovolníci pracující přímo s klienty v domovech pro seniory.

Abstract:

During the several last years the volunteer activities in old people`s homes have grown up into a wide spread and important service. In this matter the rule number 198/2002, from Collection of Laws, served the positive role qualifying the area of this service, despite of defining only those volunteering activities, that are performed based on accreditation. At the beginning of theoretical part of my work you can find a brief history of volunteering in Czech Republic and definition of basic notions that are connected with volunteering activities. Consequently the next chapter is focused on individual steps of work with volunteers. The chapter motivation to volunteering activities explains in theory the basic notions including the prosocial behavior, altruism, empathy and also the whole process of motivation itself. Included notions are the basic elements necessary for volunteering activities. In consequence we cannot pass the chapter characterizing the old age and the ageing process, where we define these concepts, and describing factual activities of volunteers that can be done in the old people`s homes. The empirical part of my work is describing and charting the volunteering activities in the old people`s homes and also the motivation and significance of the role which volunteers play in these facilities. The data gained for this part are based on answer sheet completed by the volunteers in direct contact with the clients of the old people`s homes.
