The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Credit Risk of Banks

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje problematice dopadu pandemie COVID-19 na kreditní riziko bank v České republice. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. Teoretická část se skládá z prvních čtyř kapitol a věnuje se průběhu pandemie a jejím ekonomickým souvislostem. Dále teoretická část obsahuje základní informace, které se týkají problematiky kreditního rizika. Analytická část této závěrečné práce se skládá z páté a šesté kapitoly a je zaměřena na splnění stanovených cílů. Hlavním cílem je komplexně zhodnotit dopad pandemie COVID-19 na kreditní riziko bank v České republice. Pro dosažení hlavního cíle je také stanoven dílčí cíl, a to provést analýzu vývoje kreditního rizika v období pandemie. Pro dosažení dílčího cíle jsou v páté kapitole analytické části vyhodnocené hypotézy, které byly stanovené na začátku diplomové práce. Výsledkem této práce je komplexní zhodnoceni dopadu pandemie na kreditní riziko bank.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the credit risk of banks in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part consists of the first four chapters and is devoted to the course of the pandemic and its economic context. Furthermore, the theoretical part contains basic knowledge regarding the issue of credit risk. The analytical part of this final thesis consists of the fifth and sixth chapters and deals with the fulfillment of the set goals. The main goal is to comprehensively assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the credit risk of banks in the Czech Republic. In order to achieve the main goal, a sub-goal is also set, namely to analyze the development of credit risk during the pandemic. In order to achieve the partial goal, the fifth chapter of the analytical part evaluates the hypotheses that were established at the beginning of the thesis. The result of this work is a comprehensive evaluation of the impact of the pandemic on the credit risk of banks.
