Abstract:

Anotace Diplomová práce „The Incredible Life of Agnes de Witt se zabývá fenomény jako berdache (čti berdaš),křesťanstvím a původním náboženstvím mezi původními severoamerickými obyvateli na pozadí románu od Louise Erdrich. Jméno románu je The Last Report on the Miracles at Little no Horse. Část číslo dvě je o autorce knihy. Ve čtvrté části je popsána složitá a vrstvená osobnost hlavní hrdinky románu-Agnes de Witt. Pátá část se věnuje fenomenu berdache a roli těchto lidí v původní severoamerické společnosti. V šesté části autorka práce vysvětluje vliv a důsledky nového náboženství na původní obyvatele severní Ameriky.

Abstract:

Annotation Diploma Thesis “The Incredible Life of Agnes de Witt” deals with the phenomena as berdache and two-spirits and Christianity and Native Religion among Native Americans on the background of a novel by Louise Erdrich. The novel is called The Last Report on Miracles at Little no Horse. The second chapter is about the author of the novel. In the fourth chapter is illustrated the complex personality of Agnes de Witt-the main character of the novel. The chapter number five is dedicated to two-spirits phenomenon, to the role of two-spirit people in Native American society. In the sixth chapter the author of the thesis explains the consequences and the impact that the new religion had on Native Americans.
