Evidence of military confrontations between The Roman Empire and The Neopersian Empire in the late principate and late antiquity in the archaeological sources.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is dedicated to the reaction of the Roman army to the appearance of a new threat in the Roman east. It deals with the topic of endangerment of the Roman empire by attacks of the Neo-Persian empire in the period of late antiquity from the year 224 to the first half of the 5th century AD. The attention is paid to the influences of armed conflicts with the Sassanian Empire on the changes in the Roman army and its strategy. The thesis is aimed mainly on the changes and development of military memorabilia, organization of the Roman army and the changes in fortifications as a reaction to the threat that posed the Sassanians with the use of late antique military areas on the border on Euphrates and close regions as referential archaeological localities.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa venuje reakcii rímskej armády na vznik novej hrozby v oblasti rímskeho východu. Zaoberá sa tematikou ohrozenia Rímskeho impéria útokmi Novoperzskej ríše v období neskorej antiky od začiatku od roku 224 do 1. polovice 5. st. Pozornosť je venovaná predovšetkým vplyvom vojenských konfliktov so Sasánovskou ríšou na premeny v rímskej armáde a jej stratégie. Práca sa zameriava najmä na zmeny a vývoj militárií, organizácie rímskej armády a zmeny vo fortifikácii ako reakcie na sasánovské ohrozenie s využitím neskoroantických vojenských oblastí na hranici na Euphrate a priľahlých oblastiach ako referenčných archeologických lokalít.
