Social aspects of hearing loss

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou nedoslýchavosti, především sociálními aspekty nedoslýchavosti. Jedná se o práci teoreticko-výzkumnou. Teoretická část popisuje anatomii, fyziologii, dále pak vady sluchu a jejich diagnostiku a léčbu. Důraz je však kladen na sociální stránku nedoslýchavosti, životní spokojenost nedoslýchavých, důsledky nedoslýchavosti na celý organismus. V praktické části diplomové práce jsou hodnoceny výsledky dotazníkového šetření. Pro hodnocení hendikepů byl použit standardizovaný dotazník HHIA (Hearing Handicap Inventory for Adults), který zjišťuje sociální a emoční aspekty nedoslýchavosti. Otázky jsou zaměřené na problematiku komunikace ve společnosti, s rodinou či při telefonování, ale také na pocity podráždění, zklamání či deprese. Praktická část obsahuje cíle práce, hypotézy, výsledy výzkumného šetření a vyhodnocení.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of hearing impairment, especially its social aspects. It is a theoretical research work. The theoretical part describes anatomy, physiology, then also hearing defects and their diagnosis as well as treatment. However, emphasis is put on the social aspect of hearing impairment, life satisfaction of hearing impaired people, the impact of hearing impairment on the whole organism. In the practical part of the thesis, the results of the questionnaire are evaluated. A standardized HHIA questionnaire (Hearing Hendicap Investory for Adults) was used for assessment of handicaps, which investigates the social and emotional aspects of hearing impairment. The questions concentrale on the problems of communication in society, with family or on the phone, as well as feelings of irritation, disappointment or depression. The practical part includes the aims, hypotheses, results of the research and the evaluation.
