Physiotherapy in an athlete with tendinopathy of the Achilles tendon

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu tendinopatie na Achillově šlaše a její léčbě. Část teoretická obsahuje poznatky o anatomii a biomechanických vlastnostech daného segmentu. Dále v ní je popsána etiologie, klinický obraz, diagnostika a léčba Achillovy tendinopatie, která je řešena především konzervativním přístupem, ale zmíněn je i přístup operační. V teoretické části se nachází také informace o nejběžnějších zdravotních komplikacích dolních končetin vyskytujících se u běžců. V praktické části je sepsána kazuistika pacienta s tendinopatií Achillovy šlachy, který je aktivním atletem. Pacientovi je navrhnuta a aplikována terapie, která má za cíl eliminovat subjektivní i objektivní symptomy tendinopatie. Terapii dominují techniky měkkých tkání dané oblasti, cviky vedoucí ke snížení hypertonu m. triceps surae a excentrická cvičení. Výsledek terapie je vyhodnocen na základě rozdílů vstupního a výstupního vyšetření.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is about Achilles tendon tendinopathy and its treatment. The theoretical part includes knowledge about the anatomy and biomechanical properties of the segment. It also describes Achilles tendinopathy etiology, clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment. The treatment is mostly performed by conservative approach, but the surgical approach is sometimes applied. The theoretical part also contains information about the most common health complications of the lower limbs occurring to runners. The practical part describes the case of a patient, an active athlete, with Achilles tendon tendinopathy. Suggested therapy aims to eliminate the subjective and objective symptoms of tendinopathy and is applied to the patient. Soft tissue techniques in the area, exercises to reduce the hypertonic muscle triceps surae and eccentric exercises are dominant techniques of the therapy. A final evaluation is created by comparison of the results from initial examination and final examination.
