Effect of transmembrane proteins on peptide translocation across phospholipid membranes

Abstract:

Amfifilní peptidy schopné pronikat buněčnými membránami mohou sloužit jako léčiva či jako nosiče pro další látky. Proces průniku peptidů přes membrány bohužel není v současnosti dobře popsán, což omezuje vývoj a praktické využití těchto peptidů. V této bakalářské práci pomocí počítačových simulací s využitím zhrubených modelů studujeme vliv transmembránových proteinů na průnik peptidů přes fosfolipidové membrány. Naše zjištění mohou najít uplatnění při vývoji nových peptidů schopných pronikat do buněk.

Abstract:

Amphiphilic peptides which are able to translocate across the cell membranes can be used as drugs or as carriers of other molecules. Unfortunately, the process of peptide translocation is currently not well understood, which limits the development and practical use of these peptides. In this bachelor's thesis we study the effect of transmembrane proteins on peptide translocation across phospholipid membranes using computer simulations with coarse-grained models. Our findings can be useful in development of new peptides with ability to translocate into the cells.
