Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the historical development of drag culture and the media representation of RuPaul and his show "RuPaul's Drag Race." The aim of the thesis is to examine the events and personalities that have had a significant impact on shaping the LGBTQ community, its media representation, commercialization, and acceptance in American society. The thesis analyzes historical contexts that have influenced the development of drag culture and identifies key moments and personalities that have played a crucial role in this process. Special attention is paid to RuPaul, his contribution to LGBTQ activism, and the popularization of drag culture through his television show. The thesis explores how "RuPaul's Drag Race" has influenced the perception and acceptance of the drag community in mainstream culture and how it has reflected on the social, cultural, and political aspects of society. The research is conducted through the analysis of primary and secondary sources, including television shows, interviews, articles, and historical documents. The results of this thesis will provide a deeper understanding of the impact of drag culture on society and contribute to the discussion on LGBTQ rights, representation, and diversity. The thesis will be written in English.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na historický vývoj drag kultury a mediální reprezentaci RuPaula a jeho show "RuPaul's Drag Race". Cílem práce je sledovat, jaké události a osobnosti měly zásadní dopad na formování LGBTQ komunity, její medializaci, komercializaci a přijetí v americké společnosti. Práce analyzuje historické kontexty, které ovlivnily vývoj drag kultury a identifikuje klíčové momenty a osobnosti, které hrály rozhodující roli v tomto procesu. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována RuPaulovi, jeho přínosu k LGBTQ aktivismu a popularizaci drag kultury prostřednictvím jeho televizního pořadu. Práce zkoumá, jak "RuPaul's Drag Race" ovlivnila vnímání a akceptaci drag komunity v masové kultuře a jak se promítla do sociálních, kulturních a politických aspektů společnosti. Výzkum je prováděn prostřednictvím analýzy primárních a sekundárních zdrojů, včetně televizních pořadů, rozhovorů, článků a historických dokumentů. Výsledky této práce poskytnou hlubší porozumění vlivu drag kultury na společnost a přispějí k diskusi o LGBTQ právech, reprezentaci a diverzitě. Práce bude napsána v angličtině.
