The meaning of life of old people in the relation to the care

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku smyslu života mezi starými lidmi, kterým je poskytována péče v domově pro seniory a těmi, kterým je poskytována prostřednictvím pečovatelské služby v domácím prostředí. Práce se dělí na teoretickou a empirickou část. První část práce vymezuje pojmy smysl života, životní hodnoty a cíle. Poukazuje na metody hodnocení smyslu života a zmiňuje některé výzkumy v této oblasti. Dále vymezuje stáří a změny, které jsou pro tuto vývojovou etapu člověka typické. Nakonec je popsána poskytovaná sociální péče o seniory v ČR a nastíněn její budoucí vývoj. Druhá, empirická část, se věnuje výzkumu, který pomocí dotazníku PIL porovnává smysluplnost života mezi klienty žijícími v domově pro seniory a mezi těmi, co v domácím prostředí využívají pečovatelskou službu. Výzkum dále porovnává pociťovanou smysluplnost respondentů z hlediska jejich pohlaví a komparuje hodnotové rozdíly z hlediska věku, vzdělání, rodinného stavu a míry pomoci rodiny.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the issue of the meaning of life among the elderly, to whom the care is provided in the retirement home and those who receive care through home services in their own household. The work is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The first part defines the concepts of the meaning of life, values and goals. In this section, I refer to the meaning of life assessment methods and mention some of the research in this area. It also determines the old age and the changes that are typical for this developmental stage. Finally, it describes the provision of social care for the elderly in the Czech Republic and outlines its future development. Empirical part is devoted to research using the PIL questionnaire. It compares meaningfulness of life among people living in a home for the elderly and those who use the home care service. The research also compares the perceived meaningfulness of respondents in terms of their gender. It compares differences in values in terms of age, education, marital status and level of family assistance.
