Adolf Loos und Karl Kraus - one parallel

Abstract:

Adolf Loos and Karl Kraus are figures, who this work deals with and analyses and compares their fights. Loos critiqued false ornament,Kraus untruthful phrase. This work refers also to their close friendly relationship and also how one influenced and promoted the other. This work should help first of all to differentiate their fights against ornaments or the phrase. Loos denounced the false ornament that is the adopted historic ornament which meant for him just useless and unreasonable work. Kraus fought against deceitful phrase such as heroic war novel. Kraus viewed the war as evil, violence and death and he could not abide when someone wrote a heroic story about that. One of the chapters in this work is called Loos in der Fackel [Loos in Fackel] (Fackel = torch), which was the title of an periodical Kraus published. Here is made the analyze, how was Loos in this periodical presented and compared in his time. The last part is related also to Brno and it’s inter-war architecture. In the conclusion there is a reflection about the importance of this figures in comparism with contemporary world.

Abstract:

Adolf Loos und Karl Kraus představují osobnosti, jimiž se tato práce zabývá do hloubky a analyzuje a srovnává jejich boj proti falešnému ornamentu resp. lživé frázi. Je zde poukázáno i na jejich blízký přátelský vztah, i jak jeden druhého ovlivňovali a podporovali. Tato práce by měla napomoci především k rozeznání jejich boje proti ornamentu resp. frázi. Loos odsuzoval falešný ornament, tím se rozumí převzatý historický ornament, protože tento znamenal pro něj jen zbytečnou a nic nepřinášející práci. Kraus bojoval proti lživé frázi, tím se rozumí např. hrdinské válečné romány. Válka znamenala pro Krause vždy jen synonymum pro zlost, násilí, a smrt a nesnesl, když někdo o takových věcech psal hrdinské příběhy. Speciální kapitola této práce má název Loos in der Fackel [Loos ve Fackel] (Fackel = pochodeň)což byl název časopisu, který vydával Kraus. Zde je provedena analýza, jak byl Loos v tomto časopisu presentován a srovnáván ve své době. Poslední část této práce se vztahuje také na Brno a jeho meziválečnou architekturu. Závěr obsahuje též vybídnutí a možnost zamyšlení se nad významem těchto dvou osobností ve srovnání s dnešním světem.
