Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je osvětlit význam v řadě vědních oborů používaného pojmu entropie. Poprvé byl použit ve fyzice a s touto veličinou je nerozlučitelně spjata formulace Druhého termodynamického zákona. Nicméně na rozdíl od jiných fyzikálních veličin, jako je teplota a tlak, může panovat ohledně významu veličiny entropie a platnosti Druhého termodynamického zákona určitá nejasnost v jejich významu. Asi nejpoužívanější formulací pro vysvětlení toho, co je to entropie, je ten, že se jedná o „míru neuspořádanosti“ systému. V této práci je ukázáno, že na rozdíl od takovýchto a dalších podobných ne zcela jasných formulací lze entropii přijatelně interpretovat s použitím informačního přístupu, a to konkrétně prostřednictvím Shannonovy míry informace. Na základě tohoto přístupu je odvozen vztah pro entropii jednoduchého fyzikálního systému - ideálního plynu. Na příkladech jednoduchých fyzikálních dějů je ukázáno, že informační přístup k entropii poskytuje kvalitativní i kvantitativní shodu mezi fyzikálním chápáním entropie a entropie jakožto speciálního případu Shannonovy míry informace. Též je diskutována platnost Druhého termodynamického zákona, a to s použitím pravděpodobnostního přístupu.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to clarify the meaning of the entropy concept which is used in many fields of science. For the first time it was used in physics and the formulation of the Second Law of Thermodynamics is indivisibly bounded to it. Nevertheless in contrast to other physical thermodynamic quantities as temperature and pressure there can be some unclarity in the meanings of the variable called entropy and the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Probably the most frequent formulation of entropy is that it is “a measure of disorder” of a system. In this thesis it is shown that on the contrary to this and other not very clear formulations it is possible to reasonably interpret the entropy in terms of the infromational approach, more concretely using Shannon’s measure of information. Based on this approach the formula for the entropy of simple physical system – ideal gas - is derived. Using several examples of simple physical processes it is shown that the informational approach to the entropy provides qualitative and quantitive agreement between physical formulation of entropy and entropy as a special case of Shannon’s measure of information. The validity of the Second Law of Thermodynamics is also discussed using probabilistic explanation.
