Integration by Substitution. Frequent Errors of Students. Case Study.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá výskytem opakujících se chyb studentů při řešení úloh z integrálního počtu funkcí jedné reálné proměnné a je zpracována formou případové studie. Oblast zkoumání je zúžena na výpočty neurčitého integrálu užitím substituční metody a výzkum byl proveden na studentech druhého ročníku Pedagogické fakulty Masarykovy Univerzity oboru Pedagogické asistentství matematiky pro ZŠ. Práce se skládá z části teoretické a praktické. V teoretické části je uvedena charakteristika případové studie a jsou zde definovány pojmy neurčitý integrál a substituční integrační metoda. Praktická část je věnována metodice výzkumu a také následnému vyhodnocování a finálnímu shrnutí zjištěných poznatků. Cílem této práce je poukázání na problematické oblasti při výpočtech neurčitého integrálu funkcí jedné reálné proměnné užitím substituční metody a také návrhy na vhodné působení pedagoga s cílem snížení frekventovanosti daných chyb do budoucna.

Abstract:

The Bachelor´s thesis deals with the occurrence of repeated errors when solving mathematical problems concerning the integration of functions of a single variable and is compiled using the method of a case study. The area of research was narrowed down to solving indefinite integrals by the technique of substitution and the research was done with the second year students of Lower Secondary School Teacher Training in Mathematics at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University. The Bachelor´s thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the introduction of the case study and the terms indefinite integral and technique of substitution are defined. The practical part deals with the research methodology, the case study itself and subsequent evaluation of the research with the final summary. The aim of the thesis is to highlight the problematic mathematical areas occurring when solving indefinite integrals of functions of a single variable by the technique of substitution and also suggestions concerning appropriate teaching approaches and methods in order to reduce these errors in the future.
