Self-regulation of Young Adolescents at Traditional and Alternative Primary Schools

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je porovnání žáků staršího školního věku ze škol klasického a alternativního typu v úrovni seberegulace a sebehodnocení. Cílem je zmapovat mechanismy sociální a akademické seberegulace, prozkoumat, zda se v nich žáci liší podle typu vzdělávání a popsat vzájemné vztahy mezi seberegulací a sebehodnocením. Pro účely této diplomové práce bylo realizováno dotazníkové šetření, kterého se účastnilo 134 žáků ve věku 11-16 let, z nichž 62 žáků z alternativních škol a 72 z tradiční školy. Mezi skupinami žáků nebyly nale-zeny signifikantní rozdíly v akademické seberegulaci, sociální seberegulaci, ani v sebehod-nocení. Nalezli jsme však pozitivní korelační vztah mezi sebehodnocením a seberegulací žá-ků. Interpretace a limity výzkumu jsou uvedeny v diskuzi v závěru práce.

Abstract:

The central topic of this diploma thesis is a comparison of young adolescents from traditional and alternative schools in the level of their self-regulation and self-esteem. The aim is to map the mechanisms of social and academic self-regulation, to investigate whether pupils differ according to the type of education and to describe the mutual relations between self-regulation and self-evaluation. A questionnaire survey has been made for the purposes of this diploma thesis, completed by 134 pupils aged 11-16. Number of 62 pupils from alterna-tive schools and 72 from traditional schools participated. No significant differences were found between the groups of students in academic self-regulation, social self-regulation, or self-evaluation. However, we found a positive correlation between students' self-evaluation and self-regulation. The interpretation and limits of the research are presented in the discus-sion at the end of the thesis.
