Description and analysis of EBITDA of the largest Czech family-owned companies

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je popis ukazatele EBITDA a jeho analýza u největších českých rodinných firem. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. První část je věnována teoretickému vymezení ukazatele EBITDA v ČR a v zahraničí, jeho historii, vlastnostem, metodám výpočtu a také různým úhlům pohledu na tento ukazatel. Praktická část obsahuje představení několika největších českých rodinných firem a analýzu EBITDA u těchto firem, při níž jsou vymezeny položky, které by měly být součástí tohoto ukazatele, sporné položky, a také ty, které by v jeho výpočtu figurovat neměly. Následné vyhodnocení a srovnání výsledků analýzy přináší zajímavé závěry, z nichž je na první pohled zřejmé, že použití různých metod pro výpočet ukazatele EBITDA může vést k velmi odlišným výsledkům, které mohou mít značný dopad na finanční analýzu a hodnocení podniků.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to describe EBITDA and its analysis of the largest Czech family firms. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is devoted to the theoretical definition of EBITDA in the Czech Republic and abroad, its history, characteristics, calculation methods and different points of view on this indicator. The practical part includes an introduction of several of the largest Czech family-owned companies and an analysis of EBITDA for these companies, which defines the items that should be included in this indicator, questionable items, and also those that should not be included in its calculation. Subsequent evaluation and comparison of the results of the analysis yields interesting conclusions, from which it is obvious at first glance that the use of different methods for calculating EBITDA can lead to very different results, which can have a significant impact on the financial analysis and evaluation of companies.
