The Stability Pakt and its Influence on the Growth Level of the Selected Countries of the EU

Abstract:

The following graduation thesis focuses at an analysis of the macroeconomic situation of Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Germany as member states of the European Union. Simultaneously, the thesis describes the problems that the European Union has to come in terms with in order for its stability to remain unthreatened. It characterizes the individual tools and strategies that aim at having a stabilizing effect and ensuring disciplined fiscal policies of the individual member states. The aim of the graduation thesis is to analyze the effect of the fiscal position of the selected countries, the state and development of the global competitiveness index in mutual relations on the application of the implications of the European Union's Stability and Growth Pact and also to identify the competition parameters of the selected countries amongst other countries in the global economy affecting the overall GCI. The aim of the thesis generated the following task necessary to be solved that is an identification of influences affecting the stability of the European Union and specifically the position of the single examined countries within this community. While elaborating this thesis, was worked with the analysis – synthesis method, that of induction and deduction and the method of description. In the graduation thesis Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the period of years 2008 – 2011 was chosen as the object of research. With the support of information from the theoretical part of this work and relying on the knowledge gained at the magister studies, the thesis combined these materials, worked out an analysis of the state and development of the fiscal position and competitiveness and summed up its conclusions in the thesis. Since this topic is relatively new, it drew on information not only from books, but also from relevant websites.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zamerala na analýzu makroekonomickej situácie Slovenska, Českej republiky a Nemecka, ako členských krajín Európskej únie. Zároveň popísala problémy, s ktorými sa Európska únia musí vysporiadať, aby jej stabilita nebola ohrozená. Charakterizuje jednotlivé nástroje a stratégie, ktorých úlohou je stabilizačne pôsobiť a zaistiť disciplinovanú fiškálnu politiku jednotlivých členských štátov. Cieľom záverečnej práce je analyzovať vplyv fiškálnej pozície vybraných krajín a stavu a vývoja indexu globálnej konkurencieschopnosti vo vzájomných súvislostiach na uplatňovanie záverov paktu stability a rastu Európskej únie a tiež identifikovať konkurenčné parametre vybraných štátov medzi ostatnými krajinami v globálnej ekonomike ovplyvňujúce celkový GCI. Z cieľa záverečnej práce vyplynula nasledovná úloha, ktorú je potrebné riešiť a to je identifikácia vplyvov pôsobiacich na stabilitu Európskej únie a konkrétne aj na pozíciu jednotlivých skúmaných krajín v tomto spoločenstve. Pri vypracovaní diplomovej práce boli využité metódy analyticko-syntetická, induktívno-deduktívna a metóda deskripcie. Objektom skúmania sa stali Nemecko, Česká republika a Slovensko v období rokov 2008 – 2011. Za pomoci informácií z teoretickej časti práce a znalostí z magisterského štúdia práca tieto podklady zjednotila, bola vypracovaná analýza stavu a vývoja fiškálnej pozície a konkurencieschopnosti a interpretované ich závery v práci. Keďže táto téma je pomerne nová, získané informácie práca čerpala nielen z uvedenej literatúry, ale aj z web stránok, týkajúcich sa danej témy.
