Late decadent Arthur Breisky

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci jsme se soustředili na kritickou a esejistickou tvorbu pozdního dekadenta Arthura Breiského, jež za jeho života zůstala roztroušena po časopisech nebo jako předmluvy k překladům vydaným v Moderní bibliotéce. Na obligátní teoretický vhled do metody impresionistické kritiky navazují její konkrétní projevy v Breiského pracích. Deskripcí Breiského stylizačních technik, stěžejních formálních prostředků, uměleckých požadavků a ideového ovzduší usilujeme postihnout specifický, zcela svébytný svět, který uměle a vytrvale konstruoval jako nadřazenou alternativu k reálnému životu. Pevným pilířem jeho konstruktu se stalo gesto estetismu a aristokraticky hrdého individualismu a síla k mystifikaci. Breiského osobitý, v českých zemích nebývalý projekt dandysmu sledujeme podrobněji na dandyovsky stylizovaných imaginárních portrétech, s přihlédnutím k jeho ?teoretické konfesi? Kvintesence dandysmu.

Abstract:

In this diploma thesis, there is a focus on critical and essayistic production of Arthur Breisky who was the late decadent. During Breisky?s life, his critical and essayistic production was distributed in journals or it was used as prefaces of translations that were published in Moderní bibliotéka. Concrete discourses in Breisky?s critics follow the obligatory theoretical insight to a method of impressionistic critics. There is an attempt to record a specific, entirely distinctive world that was artificially and persistently constructed as a higher alternative to a real life. It was created by using a description of Breisky?s stylized techniques, key formal instruments, artistic demands and imaginative atmosphere. A gesture of aesthetes, aristocratically proud individualism, and power to mystification became the main pillars of his construct. In this thesis, there is an unusual project of dandyism that is not common in Czech countries and this project is examined in detail on stylized and imaginary portraits of dandyism, with taking into account his ?theoretical confession? of Quintessence of dandyism.
