Consumer protection in the banking sector

Abstract:

The aim of my bachelor thesis is to approach the issue of consumer protection in use of products and services of the banking sector in the Slovak Republic. The presented work is based on the current consumer protection law in the Slovak Republic and the European Union, including their current trends. Consumer protection is an issue, which has to be viewed comprehensively. It has to be taken into consideration also in the process of profiling banks as financial institutions, from which high standard of service quality is expected anywhere and anytime within the scope of their operation. I have chosen this topic of my Bachelor thesis, because it combines legal and economic insight into guaranteeing consumer protection in the banking sector. Systematic protection of clients as consumers is a positive element in the further development of the banking sector. With respect to the scheme of the presented work, it is divided into three chapters. The first chapter introduces the consumer protection legislation and respective processes in the European Union and the Slovak Republic. The second chapter describes the issue of consumer protection in financial services. The third chapter gives an overview of the application of legal standards in consumer protection in the banking sector. I declare that the printed and electronic versions of this Bachelor thesis are identical.

Abstract:

Cieľom mojej bakalárskej práce je priblížiť problematiku ochrany spotrebiteľov pri využívaní produktov a služieb bankového sektoru v Slovenskej republike. Predkladaná práca vychádza z platného práva na ochranu spotrebiteľa v Slovenskej republike a v Európskej únii, vrátane ich aktuálnych trendov. Problematika ochrany spotrebiteľa je inštitút, ktorý treba vnímať komplexne, a to aj v záujme budovania bánk ako finančných ústavov, od ktorých je možné kdekoľvek a kedykoľvek očakávať v rámci ich pôsobnosti vysoký štandard v kvalite obsluhy a služieb. Tému bakalárskej práce som si zvolila, lebo sa v nej spája právny a ekonomický pohľad na zabezpečenie ochrany spotrebiteľa pri využívaní bankových služieb. Mám za to, že systematické zabezpečovanie ochrany klientov ako spotrebiteľov je pozitívnym prvkom ďalšieho rozvoja bankového sektora v Slovenskej republike. Z hľadiska systematiky sa predmetná práca člení na tri kapitoly. V prvej kapitole sa venujem procesu právnej úpravy ochrany spotrebiteľa v Európskej únii a v Slovenskej republike. V druhej kapitole popisujem problematiku ochrany spotrebiteľa pri finančných službách. V tretej kapitole sa venujem aplikácii právnych predpisov a trendom vývoja v bankovom sektore v záujme posilnenia ochrany práv spotrebiteľov. Vyhlasujem, že tlačený a elektronický text tejto bakalárskej práce je identický.
