Evaluation of sulfur oxides air pollution in the district of Ostrava-město in the years 2001?2020

Abstract:

Ovzduší v okrese Ostrava-město má dlouhodobě jednu z nejnižších kvalit v České republice. Práce se bude zaměřovat na znečištění ovzduší oxidy síry v okrese Ostrava-město. Cílem této práce je zhodnotit, jak se měnila situace v průběhu zkoumaných dvaceti let, co přispívalo k nárůstům či poklesům koncentrací oxidu siřičitého (SO2) a jaké další faktory ovlivňovaly koncentrace látky v ovzduší. V předkládané práci budou představeny oblasti, které se se zadaným tématem pojí. Pro dosažení cílů byla použita metoda kompilace informací a dat, které byly získávány pomocí rešerší literatury a datových zdrojů, především z Českého hydrometeorologického ústavu (ČHMÚ). Poté bylo provedeno zhodnocení a porovnání koncentrací v jednotlivých letech a odvozen celkový vývoj situace za vybraných dvacet let. V práci bylo zjištěno, že se situace postupně zlepšuje, ačkoliv stále není ideální. Docházelo k občasným krátkodobým výkyvům v koncentracích SO2, které byly způsobeny specifickými situacemi.

Abstract:

The air quality in the Ostrava-město district has been one of the lowest air qualities across the Czech Republic for a long time. In this bachelor thesis it will be dealt with sulphur oxides air pollution in Ostrava-město district. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate how the situation has changed during the 20-years period of time, what has affected the increase or decrease of sulphur dioxide (SO2) concentrations and what other factors have affected concentration of SO2 in the air. It will also mention other topics related to the core topic of the thesis. To achieve the goals, a method of compiling data and information has been used, which have been obtained by researching literature and data sources, primarily from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI). Afterwards evaluation and comparison of concentrations in the given years will be provided as well as evolution of the situations in the selected 20 years period of time. In this work, it was found that the situation keeps getting better, even though it is still not optimal. There were short-term fluctuations in SO2 concentrations, which were caused by specific kinds of situations.
