Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the efforts of Martin Luther King to remove segregation and discrimination from the American South during the 1950s and 1960s. The introductory part of the thesis deals with the position of the United States in the world, domestic politicies and issues associated with the black minority. The thesis further focuses on Martin Luther King, his methods of struggle for black equality and his intervention into topical events. Finally, King?s nonviolent movement is compared to Malcolm X?s extremist ideas.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na snahu Martina Luthera Kinga odstranit segregaci a diskriminaci v oblasti amerického Jihu v 50. a 60. letech 20. století. Úvodní část práce se věnuje postavení Spojených států ve světě, domácí politice a problémům spjatých s pozicí černošské menšiny. Práce se dále zaměřuje na Martina Luthera Kinga, jeho metody boje za černoškou rovnoprávnost a události, do kterých zasáhl během svého života. Závěr práce je věnován porovnání Kingova nenásilného hnutí s extremistickým hnutím Malcolma X.
