Foreign Trade and its Determinants

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou zahraničního obchodu České republiky a jeho determinant. V teoretické části práce jsou vymezeny základní ekonomické teorie a je vysvětlen význam zahraničního obchodu v národním hospodářství. Dále je podrobně popsán model IS-LM a je vymezen význam tarifních a netarifních opatření včetně problematiky měnových kurzů. Empirická část práce se zabývá analýzou zahraničního obchodu a jeho základních determinant v letech 2000 až 2013, s využitím indexní a regresní a korelační analýzy. Z regresní analýzy plyne, že je statisticky významná závislost mezi HDP a importem/exportem. Z indexní analýzy plyne, že se zahraniční obchod České republiky za sledované období vyvíjel pozitivně a největší část exportu je vyvážena do zemí EU. Obchodní bilance je dlouhodobě kladná a její rozdíl je každým rokem vyšší. Největší nárůst exportu následoval po roce 2004, kdy Česká republika vstoupila do EU. Naopak největší pokles importu i exportu byl zaznamenán v roce 2009, který byl velmi ovlivněn hospodářskou krizí.

Abstract:

The thesis is focusing on problematics of foreign trade of the Czech Republic and its determinants. The theoretical part of the work defines basic economical theories and the significance of the foreign trade in a national economy is defined. Moreover model IS-LM is thoroughly outlined aswell as the tariff and non-tariff measures including problematice of the currency exchange rates are discussed. Empirical part of the work consists of analysis of the foreign trade and its basic determimants in years 2000 to 2013, with use of index, regressive and correlational analysis. From the regressive analysis follows, that there is a statistically significant dependance between GDP and import/export. The index analysis shows that the foreign trade of Czech Republic from the discussed time period developed positively and its largets part of exports is exported to countries of the EU. Trade balance in long term is positive and its difference is annualy higher. The largest increase of export followed after year 2004, when Czech Republic joined the EU. On the other hand the largest decrease of import and export was registered in year 2009, the year that was affected by the economic crisis.
