Overtourism and Solutions to Problems with the Intensity of Tourist Flows in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je zhodnotit projevy overturismu a prostorové a časové koncentrace turistických proudů na území Národního parku České Švýcarsko, se zvláštním zaměřením na jeho centrální část, a na základě získaných poznatků navrhnout opatření vedoucí k rovnoměrnějšímu rozložení návštěvnosti v čase a prostoru. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována možnostem regulace návštěvnosti nejvytíženějších lokalit, organizaci dopravy a parkování, dostupnosti turistických tras, prodloužení turistické sezóny a hledání rovnováhy mezi ochranou přírody a ekonomickými potřebami regionu. Teoretická část práce vymezuje základní pojmy související s cestovním ruchem ve zvláště chráněných územích, udržitelným cestovním ruchem, overturismem, sezónností, únosnou kapacitou území a návštěvnickým managementem. Dále představuje hlavní nástroje řízení návštěvnosti, které mohou přispět ke snížení prostorového a časového přetížení turisticky exponovaných lokalit. Praktická část práce je založena na kombinaci dotazníkového šetření mezi návštěvníky, rezidenty a podnikateli, polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s vybranými aktéry cestovního ruchu a analýzy dostupných dat a strategických dokumentů. Získané výsledky byly využity k posouzení současného způsobu řízení návštěvnosti a k formulaci konkrétních doporučení v oblasti regulace turistických proudů, veřejné dopravy a parkování, obnovy a zpřístupnění turistických tras a rozvoje nabídky mimo hlavní turistickou sezónu.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to evaluate the manifestations of overtourism and the spatial and temporal concentration of tourist flows in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, with a particular focus on its central area, and, based on the findings, to propose measures leading to a more balanced distribution of visitor numbers in both time and space. Special attention is paid to visitor management in the most heavily visited locations, the organisation of transport and parking, the accessibility of hiking trails, the extension of the tourist season, and the search for a balance between nature conservation and the economic needs of the region. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the fundamental concepts related to tourism in protected areas, sustainable tourism, overtourism, seasonality, carrying capacity, and visitor management. It also presents the main visitor management tools that can contribute to reducing the spatial and temporal concentration of visitors in the most popular tourist destinations. The practical part is based on a combination of questionnaire surveys conducted among visitors, residents, and tourism entrepreneurs, semi-structured interviews with selected tourism stakeholders, and an analysis of available data and strategic documents. The findings were used to assess the current visitor management system and to formulate specific recommendations regarding visitor flow regulation, public transport and parking management, the restoration and reopening of hiking trails, and the development of tourism products outside the main tourist season.
