The paintings of Mikoláš Aleš in the collections of the galleries of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem předložené diplomové práce je vytvoření analýzy obrazů Mikoláše Aleše v galeriích České republiky. Nejprve je pro lepší pochopení celé problematiky zmapována oblast speciální muzeologie a zařazení muzeí výtvarných umění do tohoto systému. Poté je stručně popsán vývoj sběratelství a vznik regionálních galerií. Následně je čtenář seznámen s osobností Mikoláše Aleše, jeho životem a dílem. Druhá část práce je plně věnována malbám samotného Mikoláše Aleše v jednotlivých galeriích. V rámci analýzy byla sledována činnost muzeí s těmito díly, to znamená akvizice, evidence, ochrana a zabezpečení a prezentační činnost. Témata jsou zmapována především na základě analýzy archivních zdrojů, odborné literatury a osobních rozhovorů s jednotlivými zaměstnanci galerií. Na základě provedeného výzkumu bylo zjištěno, že malby Mikoláše Aleše jsou umístěny v pěti muzeích výtvarného umění s největším zastoupením v Národní galerii. Všechny obrazy v každé instituci jsou profesionálně ošetřovány a zajištěny. Prezentační aktivita probíhala zejména v padesátých a sedmdesátých letech minulého století. Obrazy Mikoláše Aleše nejsou v současné době prezentovány.

Abstract:

The objective of the submitted master thesis is to create an analysis of the paintings of Mikoláš Aleš in the galleries in the Czech Republic. Firstly, for better understanding of the whole problematic, is mapped the area of special museology and inclusion of museums of art to this system. Then the development of the art collecting and the emergence of regional galleries is briefly described. Then the reader is acquainted with the personality of Mikoláš Aleš, his life and his work. The second part of the thesis is fully dedicated to the paintings of Mikoláš Aleš themselves, in the individual galleries. Within the analysis the museum activity with those pieces was observed, that means acquisition, registration and inventory management, protection and security and presentation. The topics are analyzed mostly on the basis of analysis of archive sources, professional publication and personal interviews with individual staff members of the galleries. Using the conducted research, it was found out that the paintings of Mikoláš Aleš are located in the five museums of art with the biggest representation in the National Gallery. All pieces in every institution are professionally taken care of and secured. The presentation activity took place mostly in fifties and seventies of last century, mostly because of anniversary. Currently the paintings of Mikoláš Aleš are not being presented.
