Contemporary idols of adolescents

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with idols and value orientation of contemporary adolescents. The aim of the thesis is to find out who do adolescents consider to be their idol and what are their admired character traits. The overall mapping of values, cultural preferences and the level of self-reflection ability of adolescents aims to provide information that might be useful to educators, who want to positively and effectively influence the current generation of adolescents. The thesis is divided into four chapters of which the first three are theoretical. The first chapter describes adolescence as a developmental period full of changes. The second chapter deals with self-attitude, identity and the process of its formation. The conclusion of the theoretical part is the third chapter, that describes idols and values, identifies factors that influence the values and perception of the adolescent. The fourth chapter of the thesis consists of a practical part, that describes the objectives and methodology of qualitative research that uses a method of semi-structured interviews with seven respondents from an and a grammar school. The data obtained were analyzed by open coding. Research has shown that 16-18-year-old most often consider their family to be their idols and the admired qualities largely correspond to those they would like to dispose of themselves. It can be concluded from exploring leisure and entertainment preferences that adolescents are actively using Facebook and watching Youtube, but do not consider their favorite artists as personal idols.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá vzormi a hodnotovou orientáciou u súčasných adolescentov. Cieľom práce je zistiť, koho adolescenti považujú za svoje vzory a ktoré sú nimi obdivované vlastnosti. Celkovým mapovaním hodnôt, kultúrnych preferencií a miery sebareflexie adolescentov sa práca snaží poskytnúť informácie užitočné pre pedagógov, ktorí chcú na súčasnú generáciu adolescentov pozitívne a efektívne vplývať. Práca je členená do štyroch kapitol. Prvé tri sú teoretické, v prvej je popísaná adolescencia ako vývojové obdobie plné zmien. Druhá kapitola sa zaoberá sebapojatím, identitou a jej nachádzaním. Záver teoretickej časti tvorí tretia kapitola, ktorá popisuje vzory a hodnoty a menuje faktory, ktoré majú vplyv na hodnoty a percepciu adolescenta. Štvrtú kapitolu práce tvorí praktická časť, v ktorej sú popísané ciele a metodika výskumu. Jedná sa o kvalitatívny výskum s využitím metódy pološtruktúrovaných rozhovorov so siedmimi respondentmi z prostredia detského domova a gymnázia. Získané dáta boli analyzované pomocou otvoreného kódovania. Výskum ukázal, že respondenti vo veku 16-18 rokov za svoje vzory najčastejšie považujú svojich rodičov a vlastnosti obdivované na vzoroch do značnej miery korešpondujú s tými, ktorými by sami chceli disponovať. Zo skúmania preferencií v oblasti voľného času a zábavy možno vyvodiť, že adolescenti aktívne využívajú Facebook a sledujú Youtube, svojich obľúbených umelcov však za osobné vzory nepovažujú.
