Perception of the need for meaning of life in the selected group of managers

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je analýza vnímání potřeby smyslu života u vybrané skupiny šesti manažerů z jedné mediální agentury ve věku 30-40 let. Byla stanovena jedna hlavní a pět vedlejších výzkumných otázek. S respondenty byly uskutečněny polostrukturované rozhovory. K následné analýze byla využita metoda interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy (IPA). Manažeři se neshodli na tom, zda je užitečné přemýšlet o otázkách smyslu života. Někteří zmiňovali, že je důležité si tyto otázky ujasnit v zájmu efektivního rozhodování. Další respondenti popisovali, že je často člověk šťastnější, když o těchto otázkách vůbec nepřemýšlí. Skutečnost, že nám tyto otázky přichází na mysl, může signalizovat, že něco není v pořádku. Smysl života vnímají manažeři především v životní spokojenosti, rodině a blízkém okolí. Peníze jsou podle nich pouhým prostředkem k naplňování potřeb. Uvědomují si, že náhoda hraje určitou roli v lidských životech, ale jako významnější vnímají náš přístup.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to analyze the perception of the need for meaning of life in the selected group of six managers from one media agency between the age of 30-40. One major and five secondary research questions have been identified. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with respondents. The interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) method was used for subsequent analysis. Managers did not agree on whether it is useful to think about the meaning of life. Some have mentioned the importance of clarifying these questions in order to make effective decisions. Others have described that one is often happier when he does not think about those questions. The fact that these questions come to our mind may indicate that something is wrong. The meaning of life is perceived by managers primarily in a certain life satisfaction and family. In their opinion, money is just a mean for meeting needs. They realize that luck plays a role in human lives, but they perceive our attitude as more important.
