Observation of Male Homosexuality as a Topic in German Literature Since 1950s on example of Verwirrnis of Christoph Hein, Kleinstadtnovelle of Ronald M. Schernikau and #ichwillihnberühren of OJ&ER

Abstract:

This qualification thesis deals with the topic of perception of male homosexuality since the second half of the 20th century in Germany on the example of three selected works of German adolescent literature focused on the issue of sexual identity. The work aims to analyze the perception of homosexuality since the 1950s. For this purpose, the works Verwirrnis (2018) by Christoph Hein, Kleinstadtnovelle (1980) by Ronald M. Schernikau and #ichwillihnberühren by Oj & Er are analyzed. The same issues are discussed in selected works, namely the homosexual process of awareness and reaction of the immediate social environment. The researched period is between the 1950s and 2017. Based on the literature analysis, several aspects are examined, especially with regard to the attitudes of psychology and sociology. The focus is on the family and the nearest social environment of the main characters. Satisfaction with one's own sexuality is shaped by complicated processes. At the forefront of the analysis is the question of whether this process is facilitated or made more difficult by the immediate social environment. Among the affected families, educational models and their transformation over time are examined, among other things. The church and its influence on family life are also taken into account. The closest social environment includes friends, the school or the city in which the main characters live. Within the analysis of the immediate social environment, the following aspects are emphasized for this purpose: the reaction of the circle of friends to homosexuality, the emotional climate at school and the anonymity of the big city. Based on the analysis and the following comparison of the established conditions, it is examined whether prejudices and clichés that appeared in the company in the 1950s continue to appear in society, or whether the persons concerned must resist the same fears and worries. Developments and changes within families as such and in the immediate social environment are also examined. The first chapters of this work are devoted to professional knowledge of homosexuality. The researched works deal with the main issues from the point of view of adolescents. An outline of the psychosocial development of the human individual is considered necessary to analyze and understand the events, needs and possible consequences of the actions of the main characters and their social environment. The largest space is devoted to the course of development of the individual with emphasis on the social environment. The local environment and the most important roles of the family are emphasized. The above-mentioned primary works are primarily factually and thematically analyzed and then compared together.

Tato kvalifikační práce se zabývá tématem vnímaní mužské homosexuality od druhé poloviny 20. století v Německu na příkladu třech vybraných děl německé adolescentní literatury orientované na problematiku sexuální identity. Práce si klade za cíl analýzu percepce homosexuality od 50. let 20. století. K tomuto účelu jsou analyzovány díla Verwirrnis (2018) od Christopha Heina, Kleinstadtnovelle (1980) od Ronalda M. Schernikau a #ichwillihnberühren autorů Oj&Er. Ve vybraných dílech je pojednávána stejná problematika, a to homosexuální proces uvědomění se a reakce nejbližšího sociálního okolí. Zkoumané období je v rozmezí 50. let 20. století a roku 2017. Na základě literární analýzy je zkoumáno několik aspektů s ohledem obzvláště na postoje psychologie a sociologie. V centru zájmu stojí rodina a nejbližší sociální prostředí hlavních hrdinů. Spokojenost s vlastní sexualitou je utvářena komplikovaných procesem. V popředí analýzy se objevuje otázka, zda je tento proces nejbližším sociálním okolím ulehčován či ztěžován. V rámci dotčených rodin jsou mimo jiné zkoumány výchovné modely a jejich proměna v čase. V potaz je také brána církev a její vliv na život rodiny. K nejbližšímu sociálnímu prostředí patří přátelé, škola nebo město, ve kterém hlavní postavy žijí. V rámci analýzy nejbližšího sociálního okolí jsou za tímto účelem akcentovány následující aspekty: reakce okruhu přátel na homosexualitu, emocionální klima ve škole a anonymita velkoměst. Na základě analýzy a následujícího porovnání zjištěných poměrů je zkoumáno, jestli se ve společnosti v roce 2017 nadále objevují předsudky a klišé, jaké se objevovaly v 50. letech 20. století, respektive zda dotčené osoby musí odolávat stejným obavám a starostem. Zkoumány jsou také vývoj a změny uvnitř rodin jako takových a v nejbližším sociálním okolí. První kapitoly této práce jsou věnovány odborným poznatkům problematice homosexuality. Zkoumaná díla pojednávají o hlavní problematice z pohledu adolescentů. Nastínění psychosociálního vývoje lidského jedince je považováno za nutné k analýze a pochopení dějů, potřeb a možných následků jednání hlavních postav a jejich sociálního prostředí. Největší prostor je věnován průběhu vývoje jedince s důrazem na sociální okolí. Lokální prostředí a nejdůležitější role rodiny jsou akcentovány. Výše zmíněná primární díla jsou především věcně a tematicky analyzována a následně spolu porovnána.
