Comparative analysis of spa, housing and sporting architecture before and after 1989 in Teplice

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu architektury (konkrétně lázeňské, bytové a sportovní) na území města Teplice. Jedná se o komparativní analýzu architektonicky zajímavých budov, které vznikají před a po roce 1989. Po tomto roce nastává změna jak ve společnosti, tak i v přístupech k architektuře. Bylo proto důležité uvést nejen obecnou historii tohoto města, ale také stručnou historii architektury na tomto území. Dalším důležitým aspektem vznikání staveb byl jejich společenský kontext, který je v tomto období zásadní zmínit. Hlavním cílem této práce je nejen nalezení odlišností ve stavbách a v jejich celkovém návrhu (materiály, celkový vzhled, motivace pro vznik stavby apod.), ale také zjistit, jak moc společenský kontext ovlivnil navrhování a výstavbu.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on architecture (specifically on spa, sport and housing architecture) in Teplice. It offers a coparative analysis of important buildings, that were designed right before and after the year 1989. After this year, a big change occurs not only in society, but also in the approach towards architecture. Therefore, it was necessary to mention general history of Teplice and also the history of architecture in this area. Another important aspect is a social context, which is essential to mention also. The main purpose for this thesis is not only to find the specific differences in buildings (materials used, intention, look etc.), but also find out, how important was the social context in designing and in constructing.
