Use of modified Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy in children with hemiparesis

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o využití modifikované Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy u dětí s hemiparetickou formou dětské mozkové obrny a o vlivu, který tato terapie má na funkci paretické horní končetiny. Cílem této závěrečné práce je objasnit využití CIMT za modifikovaných podmínek. Jedná se o práci teoreticko-praktickou, tudíž v první části uvádí odborné informace o hemiparetické formě dětské mozkové obrny. Věnuje se příčinám vzniku DMO a jejím klinickým projevům. Druhá polovina teoretické části vysvětluje CIMT. Objasňuje, jaké prostředky tato terapie využívá a na jakém principu ovlivňuje funkci paretické horní končetiny. Popisuje délku trvání terapie, způsob dlahování i výběr vhodných klientů. Konec teoretické části je věnován popisu využitých testů. Praktická část řeší formou kazuistik konkrétní případy využití modifikované CIMT u dětí s hemiparézou. Využívá Quality of Upper Extremity Skill Test (QUEST), test Diskriminace čití dvou bodů, Box and Blocks test a Jamar dynamometr k vyhodnocení účinnosti a efektivity terapie. Výsledek, zaznamenávají grafy a tabulky na konci praktické části.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis deals with the application of the modified Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy in cerebral palsied children with hemiplegia and its effect on function of upper extremity. The aim of the bachelor theses is to clarify the application of CIMT in case of modified conditions. This paper combines theoretical information in the first part and practical one in the second part. Firstly, introduces information about hemiplegic form of celebral palsy and deals with the cause of CP and its clinical displays. Then, the work explains CIMT therapy, focusing on methods and principles influencing paretic arms. Theses describes duration of therapy, method of splint and selection of suitable candidates. The used tests are explained in the end of the first part. The second part of work which is practical, solves particular cases of using CIMT on children with hemiparesis. Applied tests in this study were QUEST, Two Point Discrimination test, Box and Blocks Test and Jamar dynamometer evaluating efficiency of this therapy. The result is noted in graphs and charts in the end of the practical section.
