The Motifs of Death and Love in the Works of Milan Kundera

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá motivy smrti a lásky v románech Milana Kundery Kniha smíchu a zapomnění, Nesnesitelná lehkost bytí, Nesmrtelnost a Nevědění. Záměrem práce je analyzovat způsoby zobrazení lásky a smrti ve vybraných prózách, kromě toho je ale také charakterizovat s ohledem na jejich shody a odlišnosti. Ke studiu motivů smrti a lásky je využita narativní a komparativní analýza.

Abstract:

The thesis concerns the motifs of death and love in Milan Kundera's novels The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Immortality and Ignorance. The intention of the thesis is to analyse the ways of depicting love and death in the selected prose works, but in addition to that, to characterise them with regard to their similarities and differences. Narrative and comparative analysis is used to study the motifs of death and love.
