The continuation of data of the gradiometric satellite mission GOCE

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou prodlužování gradiometrických dat družicové gradiometrické mise GOCE. Nejprve jsou uvedeny matematické a fyzikální základy používané pro popis tíhového pole Země v geodézii a přehled metod měření gravitačních dat. Pozornost je věnována především družicovým gravimetrickým misím CHAMP a GRACE a gradiometrické misi GOCE. Stěžejní část práce se věnuje samotnému prodlužování gradiometrických dat, a to nejprve teoretickému základu a výběru vhodné metody a poté jejímu testování na syntetických datech odvozených z geopotenciálního modelu. Při prodlužování gradiometrických dat směrem dolů dochází k velkému nárůstu měřického šumu, který dosahuje řádově desetkrát vyšších hodnot než samotná data. Další část je tedy věnována testování metod filtrace, kterými je možné hladinu šumu v prodloužených datech snížit. Testované metody byly poté použity na reálná GOCE data. Z výsledku prodlužování bylo patrné, že hladina šumu v reálných datech je nižší, než bylo odhadováno při tvorbě testovacích dat (syntetická data s přidaným šumem). Stále však šum dosahuje relativní hodnoty cca 110 % oproti samotným datům. Metodami filtrace se hladinu relativního šumu v prodloužených reálných datech povedlo snížit na cca 70 %.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the continuation of gradiometric data of the gravity dedicated satellite mission GOCE. Initially, the thesis gives mathematical and physical basics for description of the gravitational field of the Earth as used in geodesy, and lists methods of gravity data measuring. The author focuses on satellite gravimetric missions CHAMP and GRACE and especially on the satellite gradiometric mission GOCE. The main part of the work addresses issues of the gradiometric data continuation. It states its theoretical basics and explains the selection of the convenient method, and then covers testing of the method using the data synthesized from a global geopotential model. However, the downward continuation of gradiometric data produces great amount of noise, which comes up to more than one order of magnitude higher than the data themselves. Therefore, the next part of the thesis deals with testing of diverse methods of filtration, which enable to decrease the noise level of the data. The tested methods were applied to the real GOCE data. The results of their continuation showed that the noise level of the real data was lower than expected during a creation of the testing data. Nevertheless, the noise still reached the relative value of approximately 110% compared to the data themselves. By using the methods of filtration, the level of relative noise of the continued real data decreased to the value of approximately 70%.
