Splited country: electoral geography of selected regions in Poland

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je věnována prostorové analýze volebních výsledků Práva a Spravedlnosti, Občanské platformy, Polské lidové strany a Svazu sjednocené levice. Zaměřuje se na volby do dolní komory polského parlamentu v Dolnoslezském, Lodžském a Malopolském vojvodství v letech 2001 až 2015. Použity byly standardní metodologické nástroje spojené s volební geografií (kartografické zobrazení volební podpory, korelační analýza, lineární regrese apod.). Součástí textu je také stručný přehled vývoje polského stranického systému v 21. století. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda a jak se liší volební výsledky v historicky odlišných regionech, a to jak na obecné úrovni, tak i pro jednotlivé subjekty.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis researches the spatial analysis of electoral results of Law and Justice, Civic Platform, Polish People´s party and Democratic Left Alliance. It´s focused on the elections to lower house of Polish parliament in Lower Silesia, Łódź and Lesser Poland Voivodeships between 2001 and 2015. A standard methodological instruments connected with electoral geography (cartographical projection of electoral support, corelation analysis, linear regression) have been used. The thesis also briefly summarizes the evolution of the Polish party systém in 21. century. Main aim of the thesis is to examine whether an electoral results are different in a historically diverse regions on both general and individual political subjects level as well and if so, then how.
