The nurses knowledge about pharmacological and nonpharmacological pain management in children

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit úroveň teoretických znalostí dětských sester o farmakologickém a nefarmakologickém tišení pooperační bolesti u dětí v souvislosti s typem oddělení, kde pracují, stupněm jejich vzdělání, délkou praxe, absolvováním odborného vzdělání se zaměřením na management bolesti a motivačním faktorem: další odborné vzdělávání. Metodika: Sledovaný soubor tvořilo 150 dětských sester. Výzkum byl realizován na pracovišti dětské medicíny Fakultní nemocnice Brno. Technikou získávání dat pro výzkumné šetření byly 2 nestandardizované dotazníky: Paediatric Nurses? Knowledge and Attitudes Survey Regarding Pain (PNKAS verze 2002) a dotazník Motivačních faktorů. Výsledky: Rozsah bodů, jež získali respondenti za vědomostní část testu PNKAS činil 14 (33 %) ? 34 (81 %) bodů. Šetřením byl zjištěn rozdíl mezi úrovní teoretických znalostí dětských sester a stupněm jejich vzdělání. Sestry s vysokoškolským vzděláním, měly prokazatelně vyšší úroveň znalostí. Dále byl zaznamenán rozdíl mezi úrovní teoretických znalostí a absolvováním odborného semináře se zaměřením na management bolesti. Sestry, které absolvovaly tento druh odborného vzdělávání, prokázaly vyšší úroveň znalostí. Z výsledků dále vyplynulo, že byla zjištěna souvislost mezi motivačním faktorem: další odborné vzdělávání a úrovní teoretických znalostí. Sestry, jež získaly v testu více bodů, stavěly motivační faktor na vyšší pozici v subjektivním výběru pořadí šestnácti motivačních faktorů. Sestry s nižším počtem bodů stavěly motivační faktor na nižší pozici. Závěr: Vzhledem k prokázaným souvislostem mezi úrovní teoretických znalostí o farmakologickém a nefarmakologickém tišení pooperační bolesti u dětí a vzděláním dětských sester, je vhodné, aby se dětské sestry dále celoživotně vzdělávaly v oblasti managementu bolesti, a tím se eliminovaly jejich chyby, což přispěje k vyšší úrovni poskytované péče.

Abstract:

Objective: The objective was to determine the level of theoretical knowledge of pediatric nurses in regards to pharmacological and nonpharmacological postoperative pain relief given to children in relation to the type department where they work, their degree of education, length of practice, completition of a vocational education with a focus on pain management and motivational factor: further training. Methodology: The group consisted of 150 pediatric nurses. The research was conducted at the department of Paediatric Medicine Teaching Hospital. Data acquisition techniques for research investigation were two standardized questionnaires: Paediatric Nurses? Knowledge and Attitudes Survey Regarding Pain (PNKAS version 2002) and a questionnaire of Motivational factors. Results: The range of points the respondents have acquired in the knowledge part of the test PNKAS amounted to 14 (33%) - 34 (81%) points. The investigation found a difference between the level of theoretical knowledge of pediatric nurses and their degree of education. Nurses with college education had a significantly higher level of knowledge. It was also noted the difference between the level of theoretical knowledge and completition of professional seminars focused on pain management. Nurses who have undergone this type of vocational training, demonstrated a higher level of knowledge. The results also showed that the correlation was found between the motivational factor: further training in the field and the level of theoretical knowledge. Nurses who have completed the test and got more points, put a motivating factor in a higher position in the subjective selection of a sixteen motivational factors. Nurses with a lower number of points put motivating factor to a lower position. Conclusion: Given the proven connections between the level of theoretical knowledge of pharmacological and nonpharmacological postoperative pain management given to children and education of pediatric nurses, it is appropriate that nurses will continue with lifelong education in pain management and thereby eliminate their mistakes, which will contribute to a higher level provided care.
