Denitrifikace je typem anaerobní respirace, při které je dusičnan postupně redukován přes dusitan, oxid dusnatý a oxid dusný až na molekulový didusík. Denitrification is a type of anaerobic respiration in which nitrate is reduced stepwise to nitrite, nitric oxide, nitrous oxide and finally to molecular nitrogen. This process is characterized in relationship with the biological nitrogen cycle in nature in the first chapter.
