Comparison of the impact of the refugee crisis triggered by the Russian aggression in Ukraine on the labour markets of Czechia, Germany and Poland

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je vyhodnocení dopadů ukrajinské uprchlické krize na trhy práce zkoumaných států, která je doplněna o následnou komparaci mezi státy. Teoretická část je zaměřena na literární rešerši, analýzu a syntézu odborných publikací včetně empirických studií na toto téma. Praktická část je zpracována na podkladě komparativní analýzy trhů práce daných států a analýzou uprchlíků v jednotlivých státech. Výsledky práce ukazují, že v Česku a Polsku měl příliv uprchlíků z Ukrajiny v prvních měsících negativní dopad na míru nezaměstnanosti žen, a to z důvodu, že příliv uprchlíků je tvořen především ženami. Ovšem následně míra nezaměstnanosti klesla. V Polsku je pozorován pokles míry nezaměstnanosti žen pod míru nezaměstnanosti mužů, což nasvědčuje tomu, že se jedná o komplementy na trhu práce. V Německu nejsou pozorovány negativní dopady.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the impact of the Ukrainian refugee crisis on the labour markets of the countries under study, which is complemented by a subsequent comparison between countries. The theoretical part focuses on literature search, analysis and synthesis of academic publications including empirical studies on the topic. The practical part is based on a comparative analysis of the labour markets of the countries concerned and an analysis of refugees in individual countries. The results show that in the Czech Republic and Poland the influx of refugees from Ukraine had a negative impact on the unemployment rate of women in the first months, due to the fact that the influx of refugees is mainly made up of women. However, the unemployment rate has subsequently fallen. In Poland, the female unemployment rate has fallen below the male unemployment rate, suggesting that this is complementary to the labour market. No negative effects are observed in Germany.
