Gottfried Benn's Monograph - a comparison of selected texts

Abstract:

The thesis entitled "Gottfried Benn’s Monograph - a comparison of selected texts" deals the important personality of the German expressionist movement, unique author and physician, Gottfried Benn. The goal of the work is to get to know the literary forerunner of postmodernism both as a working man from three different perspectives - as a writer, a physician and a psychologist, but especially as an author. The main part of the work is to comparison of the two texts written in various life stages. The first text is from his epic work, which he wrote at the beginning of his career in 1916 (“Gehirne”) and the second (“Statische Gedichte”) is a selection of his late poetry, which he formed 32 years later.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce nazvaná „Monografie Gottfrieda Benna - srovnání vybraných textů“ pojednává o významné osobnosti německého expresionistického hnutí, jedinečném autorovi a lékaři, Gottfriedu Bennovi. Cílem práce je poznat blíže tohoto předchůdce literární postmoderny jednak jako pracujícího člověka ze tří různých perspektiv - jako spisovatele, jako lékaře a jako psychologa, ale především jako autora. Klíčové je srovnání dvou textů, které napsal v různých životních etapách. První text je z jeho epického díla, které napsal na začátku své kariéry v r. 1916 a druhý představuje výběr jeho pozdní lyriky, kterou tvořil o 32 let později.
